So you run to the pharmacy and are deluged with an aisle full of products promising results overnight and since you only have one more night until the big day you need your first choice to be the right one.

There are a number of ways to treat acne successfully. First and foremost, although not the overnight cure you’re looking for, a good daily cleansing routine is your best initial defense, but this does not ensure the inevitable breakout brought on by stress, hormones, etc. the night before the big event won’t occur.

how to get rid of acne overnightSo you want to know how to get rid of acne overnight.  Acne is caused by a build up of sebum in your pores which become blocked by dead skin. When this sebum is exposed to oxygen, it turns dark, forming blackheads (how to get rid of blackheads). If left untreated, these become infected by natural bacteria on your skin and create whiteheads and red scaly areas. It is difficult to get rid of acne completely overnight, but there are a few things you can do to lessen the damage to your appearance and begin the healing.

Before you begin any treatment, it is very important to thoroughly cleanse and unclog the pores, which is where the acne begins. The use of home remedies for acne should help you get to the root of the problem. Using a cleanser, either a mild soap or an acne product of your choice (salicylic acid is recommended by some) in warm water, gently scrub your face in circular motions to ensure the cleanser gets deep into the pores. There are some acne washes made by such companies as Neutrogena, Phisoderm and Murad that you could use. Remembering not to scrub too hard, rinse off the cleanser with mild or cool water and pat dry. At this point you can either choose to remove the blackheads manually or use an acne cream or home remedy to apply to the affected area.

To remove them manually, gently squeeze them upwards from the base of each one with 2 tissues held between your fingers, 1 in each hand. Remember gently, as you don’t want to cause damage to your skin leaving your face reddened and scarred. Do not force them if they are difficult, and remember to clean your hands thoroughly before and after this method to avoid more infection.

Once you have removed as many as you can, or if you decide to skip this step, there are some products and/or natural and home based remedies you can use. There are many products on the market which contain Benzoyl Peroxide. This ingredient fights the bacteria which cause the acne, and helps dry out the oil in your skin which is what clogs the pores.

There are also many home remedies you can use such as apple cider vinegar acne. Applying ground orange peel made into a paste can be very effective. Other home remedies include lemon or lime juice applied to the affected area with a cotton ball several times a day, rubbing garlic into the acne periodically during each day, or grated cucumber applied for 15 to 20 minutes is said to be the best tonic for your complexion and prevents pimples and blackheads.

There are numerous other home remedies for taking care of your acne including vitamins for acne such as A, B and E as well as zinc which can be effective for longer term use and prevention. With a little research and trial and error you can find the one that works for you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist and let them make suggestions.

It’s always important to remember that cleansing thoroughly is the basic foundation of clear healthy skin and how you treat any acne breakouts after that is a personal choice based on preferences and success rates. Keep up a regular daily cleansing regiment and always be ready for that big day. You might also be interested in reading this article about how to get rid of acne fast which shares similar tips. Okay well what I do, is I ice it down first for like 5 minutes. Then I cover it with egg whites and sleep with it on. The next morning, it is less red, and it is totally smaller. The best treatment I have ever used. But I have only tried it with like a big red pimple on my chin that I get every once in a while. I don’t have a ton of acne, but I will get a massive zit every few months and it is embarrassing and gross! Hope this helped

Do NOT put apple cider vinegar on your face. I put it on and it did nothing but sting really badly and temporary stain my face red. It does not help your acne. You could also have even worse reactions. I read somewhere that some girls face started bubbling and has blisters. Please do NOT put this on your face ever.
