Pimples, also called zits or pustules; are pus filled skin lesions that occur as part of the extremely common skin disorder called Acne (Acne Vulgaris). Pimples are generally seen on the face or the forehead but at times they are also seen on other parts of the body like the back and the posterior. Acne is an inflammatory skin condition caused by various factors, viz. bacterial infections (Propionibacterium acnes), overactive sebaceous glands and hormonal imbalances which are very common during the teenage years.

  • Diet: While consuming a vitamin rich, low fat diet generally helps in reducing the frequency of pimple outbreaks, regular consumption of certain foodstuffs like Green Tea, Bitter Melon and even Seaweed is known to help reduce the incidence of pimples significantly.
  • Heat Therapy: Heat therapy or Thermal therapy is the latest method used in the treatment of pimples. It involves the use of an electronic device (popularly called the “zit zapper”) which uses heat to kill the bacteria causing the pimples. This treatment is cheap, causes no side-effects and can be used by anyone. Heat therapy has been proven to remove 90% of the pimples in only 24-48 hours. Unfortunately, heat therapy is only useful in milder cases of Acne; more severe cases are treated with laser and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy.




The above listed methods go a long way in removing existing pimples and preventing future outbreaks.     While so many people rely on medicines and creams for acne relief they usually only give a temporary fix. You hit the nail on the head when you said about natural fixes. They are indeed the best way to clear up acne permanently, ie heat treatment etc. Great post.
